Vision Architect Jan Lagast to take a bigger stake in Idlegcy

Idlegcy is an idea of Vision Architect Jan Lagast. Jan is a creator of ideas that impact. The impact of Idlegcy is to give individuals control over their personal data. “We are talking about a basic human right here. The right to control what data businesses and organizations are storing of you”, explains Lagast. That’s why Europe decided one year ago to introduce the so-called General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 – abbreviated by GDPR.

This regulation is often misunderstood, and even considered as counter-productive for businesses. “I believe the opposite is true,” says Lagast. “GDPR forces organizations to take the respect for personal data really serious. For business it is even an ideal opportunity to stand out. And it is not that complicated after all.”

Blockers for GDPR:

Lagast sees three main challenges that are in the way of reaping the true potential of GDPR:

  • Individuals should be stimulated to exercise their rights, and therefore they also should be better informed, so they understand it is common sense, that they can decide what others can and cannot do with their data.
  • The vast amount of small and medium size companies, should consider GDPR as an opportunity. So that they inform their collaborators about the treatment of personal data with respect.
  • The price and effort for those small and medium size companies should be drastically lower, so that no one should really see GDPR as a heavy investment.

New business idea copes with the challenges

“The good news is that Idlegcy is helping to solve these three challenges all together”, knows Lagast. Idlegcy is now creating a digital platform that helps companies ready themselves for GDPR at a fraction of the cost. “This platform will include an app that helps companies follow-up all their GDPR-requests very easily. And it includes an app that allows individuals to exercise their GDPR-rights from their smartphone or PC, without having to browse through legal web pages. Click and know. Click and go.”

In the meantime, Idlegcy is presenting a weekly GDPR-tip that helps companies to treat personal data with much more respect. “The GDPR-tip proofs that GDPR is not complicated at all. It can be freely copied by media and business newsletters, provided they make a reference to the website of Idlegcy.com.” In that way, Lagast hopes to stimulate the thinking and acting upon GDPR.

Lagast to increase his stake

The ideas of Idlegcy are getting into traction now. That’s when Lagast decided to get a bigger stake in this purposeful start-up. “I was already a board member since the creation of the legal entity at the beginning of 2018. I have been working on the vision and did the design of the digital platform. Now that the company is ready for the real go-to-market and is facing its first real investment, I want to make a clear statement to all the stakeholders about my intentions. Please let everyone know that Lagast is committing the majority of his efforts and a big portion of his creative brain to the future of this project.”
